Working together with different entities and organisations
reinforces our commitment and helps us to improve on
our path.
Mayoral has been a member of Cascale since 2022, a leading international alliance that aims to promote best practices in the supply chain and measure the environmental and social impact of companies in the textile, apparel and footwear sector. This organisation is responsible for developing the Higg Index, a measurement tool that evaluates social and environmental impacts and helps to draw up a roadmap for continuous improvement in sustainability.
Mayoral collaborates with Better Cotton to improve cotton production worldwide.
Better Cotton is sourced through a chain-of-custody model called mass balance. This means that Better Cotton cannot be physically traced back to the final products; however, cotton producers benefit from the demand for Better Cotton in volumes equivalent to what we "source".
At Mayoral, we are committed to sourcing 50% of our cotton as 'more sustainable cotton' by 2025.
Our determination to incorporate garments made with sustainable fabrics season after season is linked to Lenzing's commitment to the environment. This international business group, with more than 80 years of experience in the production of textile fibers, is committed to the highest quality standards, as well as to innovation, technology, comfort and cellulosic fibers of sustainable origin, such as LENZING™ ECOVERO™ viscose or TENCEL™ Lyocell. All of them are registered trademarks of Lenzing AG, available in our collections.
We use FSC-certified paper from responsible sources in our catalogs and store bags as well as on garment labels. The Forest Stewardship Council is a non-governmental organization that "promotes environmentally appropriate, socially beneficial, and economically viable management of the world's forests."
Mayoral has partnered with logistics provider Maersk to reduce the carbon footprint of maritime imports by using carbon-neutral biofuel as an alternative to the fossil fuels that power the ships.
Greener transport with green methanol: In 2023, we shipped merchandise on Maersk's first green methanol-powered container ship. With this action, we take another step forward in our #ecofriends project and support our partner, with whom we have a common goal: to be greener.
Mayoral uses DHL Express' GoGreen Plus service, which reduces the carbon emissions associated with international parcel shipments through the use of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). This fuel, derived from used oils, offers a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions. We currently reduce by 10% and aim to increase that percentage.
The Mayoral Group is committed to setting short-term emission reduction targets across the organisation based on science with SBTi.
